Arnold Aftershocks
August 7, 2003Yesterday’s earthquake that was Arnold Schwarzenegger entering the gubernatorial race has already had good effects. It has apparently convinced Darrell Issa, the guy who funded the recall campaign, to drop out of the race.
It has also apparently broken the Democratic unity behind Gray Davis–at least two prominent Demos have thrown their hats into the recall race. Before the Dems were staying out, trying to unite behind Davis. But the Arnold announcement has made it clear that Davis is in real danger of being ousted. So the Dems have to run somebody, I just don’t think these particular somebodies are gonna be able to muster more votes than Arnold.
It’s such an exciting time to be a voter here in California. I think it’s gonna energize people, and we’ll have record turnout for the October 7th election. I know I’ll be there, ready to boot out Gray Davis and put in the Terminator.
