Poll gyrations
I don’t think we can trust any of these polls in the California recall race. The latest CNN poll shows Arnold with a commanding lead, and shows nearly two-thirds of voters support the recall itself. Yet just last week the polls were showing Arnold and Cruz Bustamante in a dead heat, and a […]
Missed the debate
Damn, I missed last night’s Gubernatorial debate because I was out watching Jesus Christ Superstar at the Curran theater. It’s too bad because I didn’t like the play that much, it sounds as though the debate was more entertaining.
I still haven’t sent in my absentee ballot, I think I’ll try to fill it out […]
The end of Star Trek?
MSNBC had a story about the end of Star Trek. Basically talking about how a lot of fans are not tuning in to the latest series, Enterprise.
The author makes some good points–there’s definitely a lot more SF available to people, and of course there’s video games that let you interact in fantastical worlds. […]
Ever higher gas prices
Oh great, just when you thought gas prices couldn’t go higher, OPEC announces a surprise cut in production. I’d been seeing predictions that prices at the pump would finally start falling now that summer is over, but with this production cut I bet we’re not out of the woods.
Thankfully I’m not going to be […]
Recall Redux
Oh thank goodness, the recall is back on. Of course the ACLU might still appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court but most observers doubt the high court would take up this case. Not after the whole Bush v. Gore debacle, still fresh in many minds.
So now I will be able to fill out […]
Emeryville from the sky
One of my neighbors went on an aerial tour of the Bay and took this photo of Emeryville. You’re facing west, the sliver of water at the top of the photo is the San Francisco Bay. That blue building adjacent to the waterfront is the Emeryville IKEA, and the yellow-ish building in front […]
Say a prayer for me now
What fond memories–Duran Duran is back. The original lineup, presumably without the original makeup and hair-do’s. Unfortunately even though I’ll be back in SF on Sunday, I don’t have tickets for their show.
I used to love them. “View to a Kill” is one of my favorite Bond theme songs, and I […]
Recall recalled!!
Oh dammit, the federal courts have delayed the recall election. The decision isn’t final quite yet–seems everyone involved plans an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
I certainly hope the delay is rescinded–if the election isn’t held in October I might not get to vote in it. Because I’ll have hopefully sold my condo […]
Howdy from Louisville
Well, I’m here at the Embassy Suites Louisville getting ready for my first day on the new job. Flew in on Saturday, though my luggage didn’t come until Sunday afternoon.
Spent Sunday evening driving around with the realtor, seeing houses and neighborhoods. It’s gonna be nice here–I’m definitely going to be able […]
Best college sports towns
College Station, TX, home to my beloved Aggies, made SI’s list of the top 10 college sports towns. Unfortunately those tea-sippers in Austin beat us–they’re at number 3 on the list, College Station is down at number 9.
Still, at least we’re top 10 in something. Not that our football program is gonna be […]
