Hello, goodbye

September 8, 2003

This Friday is my last day as a software engineer, though I’m not actually leaving my current employer. Rather, I’m switching back to the editorial world, I’m going to be a Senior Editor at a web site aimed at people who build Web sites. I actually worked at the original incarnation of Builder.com back in the day. So it’s a homecoming of sorts.

However, it’s a homecoming that means I’ll be leaving the Bay Area soon. Builder is now based out of our Louisville, Kentucky office. I’m flying out next week for a house-hunting trip and to meet everyone at the office. Then it’s back to SF for a couple weeks to finish up my affairs here and then I’m off to my new Kentucky home.

I’m excited by the prospect of owning an actual house with an actual yard. And a dog to go running in that yard. But I’m a little sad about leaving the wonderful diversity and weather that characterizes the Bay Area.

Still, I’m definitely tired of life out here and am ready to try something new. Wish me luck.
