Recall Redux
September 23, 2003Oh thank goodness, the recall is back on. Of course the ACLU might still appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court but most observers doubt the high court would take up this case. Not after the whole Bush v. Gore debacle, still fresh in many minds.
So now I will be able to fill out my absentee ballot, which arrived in the mail last week while I was in Kentucky. It’s a little intimidating to actually see all those names on one piece of paper.
I’m still inclined at this point to vote for Schwarzenegger, but I’m wavering. I’ve tended to vote Democrat most of my life, it’s just that Davis has really made me sick and I’d like to see a change. Nor am I a fan of Bustamante–he’s just another big machine politico as far as I can tell. Arnold would be an outsider, but could he really be effective? He wouldn’t have debts to the establishment, yet he also would not have chits to use in pushing that very establishment to change.
Sigh, it’s a tough choice. And I have to make it really soon.
