Ever higher gas prices
September 24, 2003Oh great, just when you thought gas prices couldn’t go higher, OPEC announces a surprise cut in production. I’d been seeing predictions that prices at the pump would finally start falling now that summer is over, but with this production cut I bet we’re not out of the woods.
Thankfully I’m not going to be here in California much longer. Gas is totally out of control here–regular unleaded is around $2.19/gal. When I was in Kentucky last month it was about 60 cents cheaper out there. It makes no sense–California has ports and refineries right here in the state, whereas Kentucky has to import gasoline from out of state. Yet it’s the Golden State that has the higher prices. Much higher.
Oh well, at least I don’t drive that much so it’s not too painful. I feel bad for people who drive for a living, like truckers and cabbies. It must be really bad for them.
