Food Thief
October 27, 2003For years, CNET’s office in San Francisco has been plagued by a food thief. Many many of us have complained over the years, but nothing happened. Then today, out of the blue, we get an email from the head of HR, touting the fact that they have caught somebody and dealt with it appropriately.
The email made it sound as though they did some impressive detective work or surveillance, but I’m sure it was just pure dumb luck. Because after all these years I doubt they’d suddenly set up a hidden camera or booby-trapped one of the refrigerators. It was no doubt just coincidence that they finally caught somebody.
The sad thing is that whoever the thief is, they probably aren’t the only food thief. There was just too much thievery over the years to believe it’s a single sick individual. But the poor bood they’ve caught will probably be blamed for much of the past food thievery.
I am just dying of curiosity though–who is this food thief? There was no clue in the email from HR, not even an accidental slip of the person’s gender.
