8 out of 10 want new job

November 12, 2003

Wow, I would never have imagined that worker unhappiness had reached this kind of level–a survey by HR professionals found over 8 in 10 workers plans to look for a new job when the economy improves.

Of course many of them won’t actually do it, but still that’s a huge number. Why is there so much unhappiness? I think partly people have unrealistic expectations–any job is going to have idiot management, dumb rules, co-workers you don’t like, etc. There’s too much expectation that you can find the perfect gig when in fact you should just learn to accomodate the gig you’re in.
