CNET buys MP3.com

November 14, 2003

My employer just bought the MP3.com site. It sounds from the press release as though we mostly bought it for the url–the site itself and all the music files on it will disappear when the deal closes in early December. I hope we spent a lot less than the nearly $400 million Vivendi spent when they bought it.

Interesting turn for CNET–the little tech news company I once worked for has morphed into a bit of a media mini-conglomerate.
