Economy grows at a blistering pace
November 25, 2003Boy I don’t know that I’ve noticed this big a jump around here, but according to the Commerce Department the US economy had a huge jump in GDP last quarter. Major acceleration, a sign that we have come out of the economic doldrums. Of course one quarter is not proof of a sustained recovery but still 8 percent is pretty damned impressive growth.
The downside–a good economy helps President Bush in his re-election bid. Not that I think any of the Democratic contenders would be all that good for the country but at least I wouldn’t cringe when I hear them speaking at a press conference.
