Rex’s first Gas & Electric bill
January 28, 2004Yesterday I got my first real bill from Louisville Gas & Electric. I’d gotten a prorated partial month’s bill in December, but it only had like two weeks plus the installation costs so I wasn’t quite sure what a full month was gonna cost me. Now I know–$143.
That’s a good bit higher than my bills in Emeryville, California were. But of course there it was just a little condo, and the temperature was a lot warmer out there. Here the average temp was about 38 and I’m heating a house not a small loft.
This bill also though includes the Christmas holidays, when Mom was visiting. She has arthritis so I was heating the house a lot warmer than I normally do. Plus I’ve since closed the vents in the two spare bedrooms, since I’m now the only person in the house. So I’m hoping that next month’s power bill won’t be quite so bad. Unfortunately it’s also been colder so far this month so who knows what the bill is going to be like.
