Al Qaida’s victory
March 15, 2004Well they did it–al Qaida managed to topple a Western government. Last week’s attack on Madrid was apparently a big issue in Spain and turned what was supposed to be a victory for the ruling party into a victory for the Socialist opposition.
Can’t say I’m really surprised–public opinion worldwide is pretty strongly against the Iraqi war. Still, it is somewhat disappointing that the terrorists are going to get what they wanted–the new Spanish government is going to withdraw their forces in Iraq. What little coalition the Bush government has built is starting to unravel.
