A New Home
May 7, 2004I’ve moved my blog over to a new home. It’s now hosted at 1and1.com. They’re a lot cheaper than my previous host, and offer more in the basic package. More for less, that’s always a good thing.
Though I will say the transfer process wasn’t totally smooth. My previous domain and hosting arrangement are expiring this month anyway which is why I figured I’d make the move. So I moved my domain from hostlane.net to GoDaddy.com. Now I accepted the transfer emails from both GoDaddy and Hostlane, yet GoDaddy did not show the account transfer for several days. In fact the record for my domain was gone from the registry, because Hostlane removed their entry and GoDaddy didn’t pick it up like they’re supposed to. I ended up having to call GoDaddy tech support to get it fixed. Luckily their techs actually know what they’re doing, tracked down the dropped transfer and completed it while I was on the phone. No yelling or multiple calls needed to get it fixed.
