Tyson to fight in Louisville
June 30, 2004Mike Tyson is going to fight here in Louisville at the end of July. In Freedom Hall, somewhat ironic given that he’s apparently fighting to free himself from debt.
They said on the news last night that he’s tens of millions in debt and is hoping to fight a number of times over the next couple years to pay off his debt. He squandered millions, and I’m sure Don King helped in the squandering. It doesn’t look like King is involved in these fights which I guess is a good thing.
It’s kinda sad–much as I dislike boxing you can’t help but be amazed at the raw talent Tyson had. Whether he’s still got it remains to be seen.
I won’t be buying tickets or the pay-per-view, but I think it’s okay that we’re allowing him to fight here. Even though Vegas and New Jersey turned him away.
