I love my Shop-Vac
July 19, 2004One of the best things about owning a house is that you get to buy all sorts of cool gadgets. I mean, when I was living in my tiny little condo near San Francisco I would never have needed a Shop-Vac. But now with a house that has a basement and a garage I decided I needed to get one.
So this past weekend I went to Lowe’s and they had this 5-hp model on sale for $50. It’s a bit daunting when you open the box because this isn’t like a vacuum cleaner where it’s all assembled. You have to slap on the wheels, and figure out the hose attachements, and all that other kind of thing.
But once you have it all hooked up it works great. I spent Sunday afternoon down in the basement, which the previous owner clearly hadn’t vacuumed ever. My Shop-Vac worked like a charm–sucked up all the dirt and lint and cobwebs.
Now the basement is ready for a good painting (I can’t afford to finish it right now so I’m just gonna paint it to at least make the space more usable and friendly.).
