Too much Olympic coverage
August 23, 2004I found myself watching way too many hours of Olympic coverage this weekend. NBC’s wall-to-wall coverage across all their networks means there’s over 72 hours of coverage per day. Basically means all the events you could possible want are gonna air somewhere. And stuff we’d normally never see, like the preliminary rounds of the equestrian events, is also airing somewhere on some channel.
There were sports I’d normally never watch, but I found myself watching this weekend. Like table tennis, horse-jumping, beach volleyball, badminton, and the list goes on.
I must say, badminton looks like a lot of fun at least the way they play it in the competitive world. It’s especially cool to watch how close to the net they can get and yet still somehow flick the little birdy thing over to the other side. And then the overhead smash kill shots everyone tries to hit past their opponents.
I was major couch potato this weekend, thank God the Summer Games only come once every four years.
