Thinking about St. Louis

August 27, 2004

One of the neat things about Louisville is that it’s something of a crossroads–lots of destinations within a reasonable drive. I’ve done Indianapolis (a bit boring though Conseco Fieldhouse is a great basketball arena) and Cincinnati (wouldn’t mind going back since I really only saw the Newport area) and Nashville (definitely want to go back–great food). Those are all within three hours of here.

So now I need to branch out into the four-hour range. That makes my next target St. Louis. Thank God for Google–I just typed in “things to do in St. Louis” and it gave me this handy About.com page. Since they seem to have a nice rail system and I hate driving in downtown areas, my plan is to stay outside the city, in fact in the Illinois side, and take the rail to see the sites. I’m planning on the Arch of course, and University Circle, and maybe rent a bike to explore the river area.

I’ll let you know how it goes.
