Louisville has a great baseball park
September 7, 2004So this past Sunday was the second-to-last day for the Louisville Bats this season. It was also dollar Pepsi/dollar hot dog night, so I decided I’d finally haul myself over there to watch a game.
The Bats play in Slugger Field, named of course after the famous Louisville Slugger company that’s still based here. The field is wonderful–small and intimate, there’s not a bad seat in the house. Though on a hot day you might want to sit out towards left field since those get the shade first as the sun sets. I was right between home and first base, just about seven or eight rows back, and those were just great seats. For a mere $8 walk-up price.
Now the dollar hot dogs were pretty basic–you had to spend $2.75 if you wanted the good bratwurst stuff. Still, the crowd was small (probably because the UofL vs. Kentucky game was at the same time) so you never had a problem getting to the concession stand.
Overall it was a great way to see a baseball game. And the giveaway was a nice little gym bag from Pepsi.
