Gave out 5 bags of candy tonight

I’m glad I had as much candy as I did–there were a lot of kids that came by. Now I think next year though I won’t go with the little bite-size chocolates. Because you end up feeling like you should give the kids four or five pieces anyway because they’re so small. Might […]

Why is Matt Damon making better movies than Ben Affleck?

I just saw The Bourne Supremacy tonight at the dollar theater, and I enjoyed it a lot. Great spy/action thriller, a worthy follow-up to the first Bourne movie. And it got me thinking–why is it that Matt Damon is making some good movies, while his best buddy Ben Affleck makes dreck like Gigli?
Sure Damon’s […]

Changed my mind–now I want a PSP

Okay, forget the Photo iPod I wanted yesterday, I think I’m gonna save up my pennies for the new PSP from Sony. They announced the price in Japan is going to be around $185, which means the US price should be $200 or less. I’d been expecting about $300 which I figured was too […]

I want a Photo iPod

Okay, in case anybody’s wondering what I’d like for Christmas, Apple computer just announced the new Photo iPod. Unfortunately it’s only at the highest price point, in fact the 60 GB version is I believe the first iPod at the $600 price point.
Dammit, now my 30 GB music-only iPod seems so quaint and out-dated.

Enjoyed my journey back to the Renaissance

Went to the last Saturday of the Ohio Renaissance Festival. It was a lot of fun–the little sketch comedy players were really extra goofy, probably because it’s the closing weekend.
I bought a useless set of katanas, but only because they were really cheap–they’d been shipped accidentally to the Ohio Renaissance when they were supposed to […]

Too many country radio stations here in Louisville

Sorry I meant to post this a couple days ago but forgot. My favorite 80’s station here, in fact the only 80’s station that I know about, changed formats suddenly this week. Instead of “103.9 The Point” they’re “New Country 103-9“.
I wonder if they even told everyone at the station about the […]

Going to the Festival

The one good thing about yesterday’s protracted wait at the doctor’s office is that I had to leaf thru a bunch of old magazines including one called Long Weekend. It’s apparently published by the same company that does Ohio Magazine, and it’s all about day-trip types of activities throughout the Ohio Valley.
Anyway, the magazine […]

I hate doctors

Nothing personal, they just seem to be the worst time-management people on earth. I had a 2 p.m. appointment today to see an ear specialist (I’ve been having problems in my right ear since the ear-wax incident.)
So I get there right at 2, I fill out the paperwork, and then I sit in the waiting […]

Louisville airport limits taxi companies

I don’t quite understand why the airport commission here felt the need to sign exclusive contracts with two taxi companies to serve the Louisville International Airport. It’s been hard enough for me to get a cab the couple times I’ve needed one, why make it harder by limiting the choices?
The airport commission of course claims […]

Maybe winter isn’t coming quite yet

I thought winter was coming already, but not so fast. It was in the 70’s yesterday, and supposed to be again for the next couple days. Worse, the mild weather combined with our recent much-needed rainfall means the damn lawn is still growing. I think I’m gonna have to mow it this weekend.
What […]
