Driving to Florida

November 4, 2004

Well today’s the big day–my scuba class is meeting over at Louisville Dive Center tonight and we’re driving down to Florida. I’m carpooling with a couple other folks, driving my car since it has the most room for everybody and our gear. So the drive shouldn’t be too bad–maybe three hours each and we’re there.

The plan is to drive overnight, meet at a restaurant in Ponce De Leon for breakfast early Friday morning, and then begin our first set of dives at a nearby freshwater spring. After those dives we drive the short distance to Panama City, where we have condos reserved for two nights. Saturday we get up and do our two ocean dives, the instructor has promised we’ll be diving near a shipwreck so that should be cool.

I bought one of these Suprema Underwater Cameras on eBay, it seems to work so I’m hopeful I’ll be able to get some good underwater photos. Instructor said we’d be able to use cameras on one or two of our dives, and definitely during the portion where we just snorkel around in the freshwater springs.
