Gonna be up late tonight watching tennis
November 15, 2004I’m not sure why, but I’m a huge tennis fan. Even though, as with all sports, I suck at the game. But I just like the one-on-one competition, it’s like boxing without the violence. So I’m definitely going to be up late tonight watching the WTA championship between Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
Serena is definitely exhausted–last two days she had tough three-set matches, first in a loss to Lindsey Davenport and then yesterday in an epic semi-final against Amalie Mauresmo. That was quite a match, and the only reason Serena won was that she decided to just start going for it with her shots. By the end though you could tell she was drained. Whether she’ll have enough in the tank for a battle against the teen-aged Sharapova remains to be seen.
It’s the US vs. Russia, and it’s a repeat of the Wimbeldon final that Sharapova won. I’m rooting for Serena of course.
