My first Cardinals game
December 8, 2004Went last night to my first University of Louisville Cardinals basketball game, versus Lindsey Wilson College. It was an exhibition game, which is why my friend Jim had extra tickets. Yet supposedly 17,000 were there anyway according to the newspaper. I really didn’t see 17,000 people–Freedom Hall was maybe 60 percent full which would be maybe 13,000.
Anyway, it started kinda interesting because these Lindsey Lohan guys had clearly come to play. They led for the entire first 8 minutes of the game which given Louisville’s ranking is pretty impressive. Louisville just had a horrible start. But once they got rolling it became a blowout. They won by like 30 points.
The best part was that one of the Lindsey Buckingham kids was called early for a technical foul–I thought it was inadvertant, he accidentally tripped up a Louisville player as both of them were trying to get up from the floor. Anyway, that T of course elicited boos from the audience, and from that point on whenever this kid touched the ball everyone would start booing. And of course he was apparently one of their key players, because he was in for most of the game. So we had lots of booing whenever the ball passed thru his hands.
Had a pork sandwich from the Kentucky Pork Producers booth, and it was very good. A great dinner–a pork sandwich and a Coke at Freedom Hall, while watching a blowout basketball game.
