WiFi at the public library

December 11, 2004

Very cool–the Louisville Free Public Library has installed WiFi in all the branches. I’m sitting at the Jeffersontown branch typing this out. You do have to use their proxy, it’s not an open connection because, naturally, they are imposing all the same filtering rules they use on the hard-wired computers. So no surfing porn at the public library.

But this does mean I’ll be able to come here and do research or writing, which I sometimes find hard to do at home. Something about being at home makes me lazy and unfocused, I’ve always found it easier away from home. And now I can have full access to the Internet right from my laptop, anywhere in the library.

God I love technology.
