cnnfn is off the air

December 16, 2004

Yesterday was the last on-air day for cnnfn, the attempt by CNN to compete with CNBC. Now the Web site of cnnfn stays, though it hasn’t been branded as “cnnfn” for quite some time. They switched the Web site branding months ago to “Money.CNN.com” which is the Money Magazine owned by the parent company, Time Warner.

Kindof a shame, it means basically that CNBC has won. Even though they’re largely to blame for the overheated Internet boom of the late 90’s, they end up being the one to survive the post-boom apocalypse.

Of course cnnfn was never any good, they didn’t have any shows really worth watching I thought. Definitely not the current Lou Dobbs show, which just totally sucks in my mind. Yet that is one of the shows they’re apparently keeping on the main CNN network.
