Jim Morrison is still dead

December 27, 2004

Went to the grave of Jim Morrison here in Paris, and like the other weird tourists who were there, I took a photo next to his tombstone. Well, as close as I could–they’ve put up a small barricade and there is a gendarme posted to watch over the gravesite. Apparently the graffitti and whatever from rabid fans was too much so they’ve now got security posted over the grave.

Kindof a sad corner of the cemetary, his is the only gravesite that really has a lot of fresh flowers on it. And a lot of the gravesites are in disrepair while his seems fairly well kept.

We also did the Red Bus, which is a double-decker that takes you to the main sites in Paris. Waste of time and money–their audio system worked only intermittently, so you couldn’t always hear what the pre-recorded tour leader was saying. And she had a bit of a British accent which made it difficult to understand her in the first place.

Last night I did manage to go out to the Pompidou Center, just wanted to take some photos which I’ll post along with all my other photos once I get home. It is indeed either the ugliest or the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen. I’m leaning to ugly, but I could change my mind.

Tomorrow it’s Normandy/D-Day.
