Glad to be going home

December 29, 2004

It’s been a good visit here to Paris, but I’m glad to be heading home this morning. I want to go back to a country where they give you ice for your Coke, like God intended.

And I definitely won’t miss the prices–have no idea how much I’ve charged on the credit card but it’s going to be a lot. Hopefully my bank will be giving me a better exchange rate than the little Cambio stands here in Paris. Even so, dinners at a little cafe are running 60 euro or thereabouts for two people, which means $90. That’s a lot I think, yet it seems fairly standard around here.

And I won’t miss this Renaissance Paris La Defense Hotel. It’s been kinda disappointing, though given the price I shouldn’t really complain. Mom got an associate’s discount, so it’s something like 50 euro a night. But the service hasn’t been even four-star level. At best it’s a weak 3-star maybe even just a 2-star.
