Still don’t have a state senator

January 5, 2005

Looks like my district here in Louisville still doesn’t have a state senator up in Frankfort–she was not seated by the legislature. The vote winner apparently doesn’t qualify because she doesn’t meet residency requirements (you must live six years in Kentucky before running, she has only lived two of the last six here the rest across the river in Indiana). So the Democrat was declared the winner by a judge but now the Republican legislature wants to hear the appeal from their candidate who was disqualified.

It’s basically a mess but it does sound like in the long run the Democrat will take office. The Republican didn’t meet residency requirements and that should be the end of that.
