Wired my first electric socket!
March 11, 2005Very exciting–last night I wired up my first electric socket. Now we didn’t actually do a smoke test (power it up and see if anything smokes). But the instructor did look over my work and said it looked fine.
Now I’m absolutely certain I’ll never make money as an electrician. It was so hard getting this thing wired up, and then figuring out how to compress the wires safely back into the box. I can definitely do this for my own needs, but I don’t think I should consider trying to be a real electrician.
Next week is the last meeting for Wiring 1, you definitely have to take Wiring 2 before you’re able to do useful stuff at home. Because we aren’t going to be able to do much more hands-on stuff with only one class left. So I’m gonna be signing up for Wiring 2 in April.
