I hate the phone
March 30, 2005Not to dis Alexander Graham Bell’s great invention, but sometimes I really hate the phone. I know it’s useful in so many ways, I know we wouldn’t have the Internet without the phone network, but still.
I think what bugs me is how intrusive a phone is–it rings loudly, insisting you pay attention to it RIGHT NOW! Today was one of those days where I just seemed to get endless phone calls. I had calls from multiple engineers that I’m working with on a project at work. I got calls from various ad development folks on different ad serving projects I’m involved in. I got calls from the air conditioner service reminding me that it’s time to schedule my spring check-up to make sure the A/C at my house will run this summer.
Grrrr. I wish everyone could just work over email. I like email–I get to control the flow of when I reply, I get to spend time thinking about what I want to say, I get to keep a record of what we discussed. None of that happens with phone calls.
