Big thunder

May 20, 2005

Last night was Mother Nature’s version of Thunder Over Louisville. A big thunderstorm blew through the area, dumping several inches of rain, hail, and plenty of lightning strikes.

My neighborhood seems to have escaped relatively unscathed, though one guy down the street had a tree lose a limb. Luckily it’s a new neighborhood, about 12 years old, so none of the trees are gigantic. Even when a tree limb comes down it doesn’t really do any damage.

The storm apparently dumped a record amount of rain, which makes me happy because it means I don’t have to water the lawn for a while. But it also means I may not be able to trim the hedge along the side of the driveway. That thing desperately needs a trimming and I was planning to do it Saturday. But things may still be too damp by then for an efficient trim.
