Yard sale find: Cookie Factory
May 23, 2005Saturday was yard-sale nirvana here–warm but not hot, clear sunny skies. Literally everywhere I went on Saturday I would see signs for yet another yard sale. I of course stopped at a few, it’s a sickness I’ve inherited from my Mom.
The big find this week was the $3 Rival Cookie Factory:
I know I’ve never seen one at Target or Wal-Mart so they must not be making them anymore. I’m thinking there may have been liability problems–the heating plates get really hot and the cookie sheet sits right on the heating plates. The thing is aimed at kids but they’re the ones most likely to accidentally get burned on those heating plates.
The idea is that you can whip up a small batch of cookies without having to preheat a big old oven. Unfortunately the actual baking time isn’t faster–it still took about 12 or 13 minutes for the little pop-and-bake cookies I bought at Krogers. But since you’re only heating this little appliance it still saves energy over powering up the whole oven. Now whether it’s any more efficient than a small toaster oven I don’t know.
The box says it has a recipe booklet but of course this used one didn’t have the booklet. There’s probably other uses for it besides cookies, maybe reheating pizza slices or stuff like that. But without the booklet I don’t know what the approved uses are.
I’m gonna just try stuff, the pizza idea definitely. I just don’t eat pizza that often so it may be a while before I do get to try that.

TrackBack URII just got one of the cookie factory ovens today at a resale shop for $3.50. Mine has the recipe booklet with it. It suggets you can use it for bagels, frozen eggrolls, frozen french fries, mini pizzas, tater tots etc. But you’re right, it’s not any faster. I bought it to use in my preschoolclassroom instead of going to the kitchen in the basement. The booklet does say it’s for adult use only.
Hi.. I got one on freecycle today could you please share the instruction booklet with me??
Thanks
VG
Hi,
My 9 year old son found one of these at a garage sale today too (for a dollar!) It also did not have the instruction or recipe book. Is there anyway you can email it so I can print it?
Thanks,
Rita
Hi,
My child got hers for free from my aunt and we didnt have instructions nor recipe book so if you could email that to me also i would appreciate it. Even without the booklet we winged it with the premade cookie dough and it was the same amount time but it was small enough for just a few and she had fun.
Thanks,
DeLea
Sorry everyone, but I gave mine away to GoodWill a while back. I no longer have the instruction booklet or anything else for this unit.

I, too bought a Rival Cookie Factory Maker, without any instructions. Only has two inserts, but it is in very good shape. Would appreciate it, if anyone could send me the instructions from their booklet. Would like to try it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to a response. Would love to try out some of the recipes. Thank you kindly,
Helen
Hi Valerie,
Would it be possible that you could copy and paste the Booklet instructions. Would greatly appreciate it.
Your response would be greatly appreciated. Bought this at a THRIFT SHOP, but it had no Booklet or instructions with it. It was in great shape, so could not resist buying it. the problem now is how to use it. So all help would be appreciated.
Thank you kindly!
