Lunch is the most important meal of the day
June 3, 2005I know a lot of so-called health experts proclaim breakfast as the most important meal of the day but I think lunch is the most important. Perhaps not from a nutritional standpoint but certainly from a mental-health standpoint.
At least that’s how it works for me. The minute I come in to work, I start looking forward to lunch. Not what I’m going to eat, nor where, just the fact that I’ll be able to get away from my desk for an hour at noon. That’s the part I look forward to.
Is that bad? Probably is an indication of how much I do not like my job, that as soon as I sit in front of my computer I start thinking about lunch.
It’s not that my job is horrible, nor that I have a bad work environment. On the contrary, this job actually is a good fit for my skills and I like most everyone I work with. It’s just not fulfilling I guess, which is why I spend so much energy thinking about my time away from work. Like lunchtime.
