Comic-book movie weekend

This past weekend was kindof a comic-book-movie weekend. Movies based on or inspired by comic books.

Saturday night I dragged my projector out onto the patio and finally watched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I’ve had the DVD forever and just for some reason haven’t gotten around to watching it until this past weekend.. Anyway, I liked it okay though it’s not a great flick. The effects were decent but the lighting was I thought too dark. Could have been the contrast on my projector but it just seemed very dark. Maybe intentional, it’s harder to see flaws in the special effects that way.

Sunday I saw Batman Begins. Very good, probably the best of the Batman films yet. I even enjoyed the exposition/back story that takes the first third of the film. Though seeing Liam Neeson in this kind of role makes me think of Qui-Gon, his Jedi mentor role in the Star Wars flicks.

Anyway, two good movies this weekend is not a bad thing.
