Starting a neighborhood association

June 28, 2005

Kevin Kramer, the city council representative for District 11, organized a meeting last night to try and get the ball rolling on a neighborhood association in Four Seasons. That’s the development where I live (actually I’m in Four Seasons II which was one of the more recent phases in the neighborhood). So I attended the meeting and I think it’s going to happen.

The idea is that a neighborhood association has some muscle to get things done with the city. For example, we as individuals would have a hard time getting extra street lighting installed in the area but as an association we would have a stronger voice. And it would give LG&E an entity they could bill for the street lighting costs.

I’ve volunteered to be on the initial committee that drafts our bylaws and organizes the first elections. Should be cool to help build up an association that can get stuff done.
