Thieves love the Acura Integra
July 19, 2005At one time I actually wanted to buy an Acura Integra. About five years ago, my credit union had a used-car sale and there was a nice black Integra one the list. But they also had an Infiniti G20 and I’d always wondered what it was like to own an Infiniti. The G20 was a lot cheaper than the Integra anyway, so I got the Infiniti instead of the Acura.
Good thing too–turns out five of the 10 most-stolen cars last year were Integras. The thinking is it’s street-racers who are feeding the market for stolen Acuras.
From what I saw living in San Francisco that certainly makes sense. Tons of modified Acuras (and Hondas) roamed the streets out there. The funny thing is it was one of the reasons I decided against the Integra–the people driving those modified Acuras were invariably Asian males and I did not want to fall into that stereotype.
