Surfing from the Orlando airport
August 26, 2005So I’m sitting here waiting to meet everyone else that’s flying into Orlando. Apparently my flight was first, Mom arrives in about an hour and then the cousins arrive an hour after that. I’m in the lobby of the Hyatt Hotel, which is literally at the center of the airport–all the terminals and the attached mall/food court seem to flow out from the Hyatt lobby. The airport’s information desk is in fact right in the lobby. It’s the tightest airport/hotel integration I’ve ever seen.
In the meantime I am happy to report that Orlando International Airport (MCO) has free wireless service. Which is a good thing because I had forgotten to print out everyone’s itinerary and I wasn’t sure for a while how I was going to hook up with everyone. But now thanks to this free wi-fi I’ve located the info in my Inbox. It was a bit weird logging into the office VPN from the airport but it worked fine.
Now Louisville (SDF) where I originated did not have free Wi-Fi. It’s the Sprint service that you have to pay $10/day which is outrageous. The nice thing is that on my return flight I’ll have a bit of a wait, since we’re all arriving back at the airport together but my flight is one of the last ones out. So I’ll no doubt be using this Wi-Fi again in a few days.
