Whoever writes the headlines at Woot is brilliant

I’ve only ever bought one item at Woot.com, but I visit the site almost every day. Not just to see what today’s bargain might be, but to revel in the witty descriptions they write for each day’s products.

I especially like the headlines. The writer does a great job of including the product name in the headline and yet squeezing in some joke or pun. Like today–they’re selling a little RC car, based on the Mitsubishi Lancer. And so the headline of course is “Hold me closer, tiny Lancer”. Beautiful, perfect combination of pop culture reference and product reference.

Man I wish I could write like that. Especially wish I could get paid to write like that. What a great gig that must be, copy-writer for Woot.com
