A thief with a guilty conscience?
December 24, 2005Whoever stole my Christmas lights apparently had second thoughts, because they were returned today. Unfortunately not returned in exactly the same condition–a couple of the bulbs were broken. So essentially I can’t use the lights.
I guess it’s the thought that counts–I appreciate that the thief returned them at all. I just wish they’d returned the lights in working order.
It would appear the thief may have left some evidence behind. There was a cellphone, busted, on my driveway when I found the lights. It looked like it had been run over or something, maybe in their haste to drop off the lights and get out. Not certain if I should turn the phone over to the police or just toss it and let this episode end.
