Decent Filipino food arrives in Louisville

January 30, 2006

We finally have one decent option for Filipino food here in Louisville–a take-out/delivery place called Sari Sari. I had the chicken adobo and the leche flan on Friday, both were excellent. If I have a complaint it’s that they only used drumettes (the small drumstick-shaped part of a wing) in the adobo. To me the best flavor comes from the dark meat so I would have liked if they’d included some thigh or regular drumstick in the mix.

It’s way better than Edna’s Good Stuff, the lame Filipino restaurant out in J-town. The downside is that Sari Sari is not a restaurant, it’s strictly a take-out/delivery place. And the delivery area is small, just a 3-mile radius.

The owner says they are hoping to open a regular sit-down restaurant in the next few weeks. I’m hoping that works out especially because that might let them offer some additional menu items.

[…] So I mentioned earlier this week how there was finally one good Filipino restaurant here in Louisville. I just drove by where the other Filipino place was located and found out they’ve closed. Where Edna’s Good Stuff used to be there’s now a “Restaurant for lease” sign. […]
