Late start has me discombobulated
When the alarm went off this morning at 6 a.m. I turned it off and rolled back to sleep. For another 25 minutes, almost a half-hour behind schedule.
You’d think that once I realized how much I’d slept in I would try and rush to get back on schedule. But no, I […]
Foods that will disappear from your grocer’s shelves soon
When it comes to my favorite items at the grocery store, I think I’m cursed. Every time I find something I really like, the manufacturer pulls it from the shelves soon afterwards.
Ben & Jerry’s did it to me a few years ago, sending both Rainforest Crunch and Apple Pie to the flavor graveyard. […]
A billion songs isn’t that impressive
So Apple is making a big deal out of the fact that they sold their one billionth song on iTunes this week. A billion of anything sounds like a lot, but when you look at it in perspective it’s not really that big a number. At least not when it comes to music.
For […]
My Google Page
Ooh, I somehow managed to get into the Google Pages beta before they started throttling new members. So here’s my Google Page.
Spiffy, it was indeed pretty easy to use. Will non-techies be able to use it? I think so, as long as they’re okay with the strict layouts that it offers.
“Darling Nikki” isn’t explicit?
A number of the people at work have been raving about the new Prince single Black Sweat, from his upcoming new album. The album isn’t out yet but the single finally hit iTunes this week.
So this morning I was in iTunes adding the song to my shopping cart for later. And I noticed […]
Ask Jeeves retiring this month
Apparently Jeeves the Butler is finally going to be retired sometime this month. It probably is the right move. A “human” brand makes sense for Marth Stewart Omnimedia but not really for a search engine site. Not when they’re competing against corporate brands, like Google.com and MSN.com.
Still, it’s a bit sad to […]
Nursing a potential RSI
I haven’t posted for almost a week. In fact, over the long holiday weekend I took a break from keyboarding. I’ve been trying to nurse some shoulder and elbow pain that I think may be RSI-related.
I’ve got an ergo evaluation scheduled tomorrow here at work. Somebody’s coming out to take a look […]
Pamela Anderson won’t be coming to Louisville anytime soon
Apparently the former Mrs. Tommy Lee is offended because KFC will sponsor the Kentucky Derby starting this year. She’s a big PETA spokesperson and claims that KFC (or its suppliers) are cruel to the chickens.
Oh well, one less B-grade celebrity to look out for at this year’s Derby.
No. 2 with a bullet
Well you knew there’d be lots of jokes about Vice President Cheney’s little hunting accident this weekend. CNN collected some of the better jokes from late-night.
It’s still amazing to me that Cheney hasn’t made any public statement about this. And that his office waited so long before notifying the media. They’ve made […]
60 years of computing
Hard to imagine that it’s been 60 years since ENIAC was unveiled to the world. 1946 to 2006, how far we’ve come in 60 years of computing.
Strictly speaking, ENIAC wasn’t the first machine worthy of the name “computer”. Certainly the super-secret Colossus that helped the Brits crack German codes qualifies as a computer, […]
