Itching for a Spring cleaning
I don’t know if I’ve written about this yet, but I’m thinking about moving later this year. Not out of Louisville, but closer–I’m getting tired of living in suburbia. There’s some condos they’re building right next to the University, which would put me much closer to downtown and walking distance to restaurants, a […]
Kinetic knows what time it is
So for the past few weeks I’ve been “playing” a PS2 game called Kinetic. It’s an Eye Toy game where this computerized trainer puts you through a bunch of exercises to try and get you in shape.
Essentially it’s a bunch of mini-games, like avoiding the red mines as they drop on the screen or punching […]
One step closer to the holodeck
Ah those ingenious Japanese engineers–they’ve developed a system that lets you “write” simple images in thin air using lasers. Basically it quickly heats up tiny spots in the air to make them glow, this forms the pixels that the system uses to draw 3-dimensional images in empty air.
That is awesome, though you gotta wonder […]
Wal-mart plans 50% more US stores
Amazing, Wal-Mart thinks there’s room to add 1,500 new stores in the US. An almost 50% increase over the 3,200 stores already dotting the country.
I can’t imagine where they could put that many more Wal-Marts. Then again there’s no arguing they’ve been successful so far. They must know what they’re doing. […]
Superbowl ads
In case you missed them, TV.com has posted a page with all the Superbowl ads. So you can watch them again and again if you like.
This is actually good for me because I missed some of the commercials. I was doing laundry during the game so I would go to the basement during […]
Billion-dollar cruise ship
Holy crap, Royal Carribbean has put in an order for a billion-dollar cruise ship. The most expensive commercial vessel ever ordered.
The thing sounds way too massive though–over 5,000 passengers. That’s too many people on one boat, it’s not going to be fun when it’s that crowded. And the debarkation process is going […]
And another one bites the dust
So I mentioned earlier this week how there was finally one good Filipino restaurant here in Louisville. I just drove by where the other Filipino place was located and found out they’ve closed. Where Edna’s Good Stuff used to be there’s now a “Restaurant for lease” sign.
On the one hand you hate to […]
Yahoo Mail beta is amazing
I finally got invited into the Yahoo Mail beta last night, and it’s amazing. If you get the invite absolutely accept it. If you hate it you’re not stuck–there’s a link to let you switch back. Of course I don’t know if they plan on keeping that option once this rolls out […]
No mail yesterday
I didn’t get any mail yesterday. Can’t even remember the last time that happened. I mean, as the proud holder of a mortgage I seem to get at least one re-fi offer a day. And those bastards at Citibank and MBNA send me a steady stream of credit card solicitations. So […]
