Had to let CompUSA install the new iPod battery

March 16, 2006

So last week I bought a replacement battery to put in my ancient 3G iPod. But I managed to break the little case-opener tool that came with my kit, so I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a couple spares. I managed to break one of those, and still my iPod was sealed tight as a drum.

Decided yesterday to just pay CompUSA to do the battery replacement, since clearly I couldn’t get it to work. Cost me $30 but I got a phone call last night that said the thing is done and ready for pick up.

So I’ll grab it tonight on my way home, and hopefully my iPod is now restored to full health. Because I’ve decided to wait a couple more generations before replacing it. I want to see the video iPod evolve a bit more before taking the leap.
