Chemical warfare on my lawn
April 13, 2006Okay, I’ve given up–clearly I am not capable of taking care of a lawn. It’s weed-filled, and there’s dead spots that refuse to green up despite my seeding/fertilizing/watering efforts. So I’m hiring some professionals, a company called ChemLawn.
I think the name says it all–they lay down various and sundry lawn chemicals to get rid of weeds and bugs, as well as fertilizer to strengthen the grass. It’s about once every six weeks throughout the summer, they will be calling me in the next few days to schedule the first attack.
At first I was a bit concerned, I mean my neighborhood is full of kids. Is it really safe to be carpet-bombing these chemicals onto my lawn? But then I saw that some of my neighbors are also using this service so what the hell, the chemicals on my lawn can’t do much additional harm right?
