Ms. Kentucky crowned Miss USA
April 22, 2006As a less-than-average-looking, over-weight, guy I’ve never been fond of beauty pageants. They only help to glamorize an unhealthy fascination in our society for super-skinny women with perfect teeth and long flowing hair.
And yet, I admit it’s kinda cool that Miss Kentucky won the Miss USA crown this year. A girl from my current home state made good.
Not that any pageant is really relevant anymore–these things used to be appointment television but now it’s a sideshow. I didn’t even know it was happening last night, hadn’t seen or heard any promotion for the show. Kinda surprised at that, I mean anything associated with Donald Trump is supposed to have a bit of that media frenzy about it.
