Great new single from the Dixie Chicks

I was a Dixie Chicks fan before the troubles of a couple years ago, but I’m even more of a fan after hearing their new single “Not Ready to Make Nice“. It’s in the grand tradition of artists using music to say what is really on their minds, it’s gutsy and brave and on top of all that it’s a really good song. It works on so many levels, not just as a response to the controversies.

I saw the video this morning on CMT and knew I would have to get a copy. The album’s not due until next month, and I’ll probably buy it. But I couldn’t wait so I went ahead just now and downloaded the song from iTunes. Five stars, it’s in heavy rotation on my playlists. Love the video too, and they’re also gearing up for a tour this summer. If they come anywhere near Louisville I’m going to try and go see them.
