Hope there’s nothing to this stock option issue at CNET
May 23, 2006I saw that CNET has launched an internal probe into some past stock options grants. Apparently CNET was one of the companies identified as having some stock option grants that were suspiciously timed in terms of having strike prices at or near 40-day lows. The notion being that there may have been some manipulation of the stock option grant dates to give certain employees favorable prices on their grants.
I truly hope that there’s nothing to this allegation. CNET grants stock options all the time, it could be pure coincidence that some of the grants happened to hit during dips in the stock price. I know I never got option grants at low points in the stock price. Of course I wasn’t an officer of the company, I’m sure those are the grants under scrutiny.
