Found a great new running route

When I run in the morning before work, I usually go to 3rd Street, head towards the river, and then hang a right towards Waterfront Park. You can then run thru the park and stay on River Road past the Tumbleweed and the training facility that the U of L rowing club uses. […]

Astronomers detect light being converted into matter

It’s Einstein’s famous E=mc2 at work–astronomer’s have detected a binary star system where light is being converted back into matter. News like this always makes me nostalgic in a weird way. I guess because at one point in my youth I thought it would be cool to become an astrophysicist, one of these […]

Beatles may finally be selling their music on iTunes Music Store

Man I hope this story is true, that the Beatles may be ready to sell their music on the iTunes Music Store. I really really want a copy of Dear Prudence, but I don’t want to have to buy an entire CD just to get that one song.
And yes, I know I could […]

I could never be a short-order cook

So on Black Friday, I decided I’d try to pick up on of the bargain LCD TV’s at Best Buy. I was actually after the little 15-inch model, to put in my spare bedroom. When friends or family stay over they’d have a TV they can use if they don’t want to watch […]

Was CNET’s MySimon acquisition one of the ten-worst ever?

So my former employer, CNET Networks, has made a top-ten list. Unfortunately it’s not a good one–this author claims that the acquisition of MySimon was one of the ten worst Internet acquisitions ever.
I’m not certain I entirely agree. Certainly MySimon doesn’t appear to have been a great investment, and yes the site does […]

Sony may have shipped less than 200,000 PS3’s to the US

Wow, if this study is true then Sony really botched their US launch of the Playstation 3. They had already lowered expectations by saying they’d have only 400,000 units for the launch event last Friday. Well now it appears they may have shipped as few as 125,000 units to the US.
That’s just horrible. […]

Why so many Thanksgiving Day sales?

So I know that Black Friday has become the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. It’s the Friday after Thanksgiving, when so many stores open extra-early with doorbuster specials meant to entice customers and their wallets.
But this year I’m seeing a bunch of stores planning to jump the gun early and […]

Fox cancels O.J. book and TV special

Thank goodness, Fox came to their senses and cancelled the horrible O.J. Simpson non-confession that they announced just last week. Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of News Corp, apparently does have some decency in him as he personally announced the cancellation and apologized for the fiasco.
They probably still have to pay O.J. whatever sum was […]

Midway, KY is a strange place to stop for gas

So Friday night I had to make a quick trip down to Lexington (the Circuit City in Lexington was the closest with the particular model of laptop I wanted to get). Now since it was Friday the tank in my car was not full of course, so I had to stop for gas along […]

There’s so many stay-at-home Moms in my neighborhood

So yesterday I came home earlier than normal. Wasn’t feeling that well, in fact I stayed home from work today as a result.
Anyway back to yesterday. I am driving home earlier than I usually do, early enough in fact that I end up trapped behind a school bus as it winds thru the […]
