Heading home

I’m sitting in McCarron, the airport here in Las Vegas.  They’ve got free Wi-Fi which is awesome.

So I’m heading home today after a week in Vegas.  Actually won a small bit of money, enough to pay for the rental car we used all week.  That’s cool, one less expense to worry about when the credit card bill comes due next month.

Having a car was indeed nice.  We got to go to several casinos we’d normally not have visited, like The Palms.  We saw Dreamgirls at the movie theater there, and then gambled a bit on the Megabucks machine.  Didn’t win at the Megabucks, but I will say that the movie theaters there are nice.  And the casino overall was nice, highly recommended.

We also got to visit the Golden Nugget downtown, which was probably the best buffet bargain we had all week.  A mere $9.99 for the lunch and it was really good food.  Not quite as spectacular as the buffet we had at the Wynn, but a lot cheaper (the Wynn’s brunch buffet was $33.95/person).

THe other nice thing about having the rental car was being able to eat at several of the Filipino restaurants in town.  Mostly went for the halo-halo, which I had almost every day we were here.  The one at Goldilocks is the best by a long shot, followed by Pinoy Pinay and then Kapit Bahay.

Had a good time but I am glad to be headed home.  Can’t wait to sleep in my own bed, all this week I’ve been sleeping on the lumpy mattress from a hide-away bed.  The bed itself was also lumpy so I had hoped that putting the mattress on the floor would help but my back says not really.
