60 terabytes for Dead Man’s Chest
January 26, 2007At the end of this article about ILM (George Lucas’ special effects company) they mention that the special effects for Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man’s Chest required 60 terabytes of storage. And they’re expecting the final film in that trilogy, At World’s End, to take about 50% more storage.
Damn. Really shows you how much of the movie is done in the computer. I wonder how much storage a fully-digital movie, like Monster’s, Inc, requires?
