One sad, lonely bag of grass clippings
June 19, 2007Tuesdays are the scheduled yard-waste pick-up in my neighborhood, and unlike the last two weeks I actually had something to put on the curb this morning. But not much–a lone garbage bag of grass clippings. And not even a full bag, it was maybe just two-thirds full.
That’s all the clippings I got from mowing my dried-up lawn this weekend. Normally I can fill three bags worth of cut grass. These are the big yard-waste bags, not small kitchen garbage bags.
But all I got this weekend was that one bag, only part-way filled. It was so weird to be able to finish the entire front yard without once having to empty the grass-catcher on my mower.
Still the yard did need to be mowed. Weeds were poking up, and a few patches of the yard were for some reason still growing even with the drought and heat. So it was all messy and uneven, now it has been cut down to a nice uniform height.

What’s wrong with messy and uneven?
I don’t want my neighbors to give me that nasty look they reserve just for people with messy lawns.
