Dammit, Steven Levy liked the iPhone

June 27, 2007

One of the few tech journalists that I think gets it right more often than not, Steven Levy liked the iPhone.  That’s a pity, I was kinda hoping the reviews would be bad.  Not that I want Apple to fail but I just thought the hype was way overboard.

But Levy seems to think the hype is pretty well deserved.  Which will of course only add to the hype.  Smelly fan-boys (or soon-to-be-smelly after a couple days in line) are already eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new phone/Internet/video device.

Even with the positive review I’m not going to be waiting in line anytime soon.  Mostly I am too much of a cheapskate to purchase the $600 device, plus the minimum monthly contract is supposedly $60.  Too rich on both counts for my blood.

Now once they can increase the storage to the 30 GB of my iPod, and get the price down into the same $250 range as my iPod, then I might be interested.
